Happy Belated Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving weekend I was infatuated with the color combination of purple and green. Thanksgiving day I wore a high-low asymmetrical skirt from Forever 21, and a purple button up blouse thrifted from Goodwill for a few dollars.  A statement necklace I bought years ago from who know's where. My boots are from Rainbow. And my beanie was a give away at #SpelHouse Homecoming 2012.

I hope you all had a STYLISH Thanksgiving. xoxo

Beautifully Wrapped Fashion Show

At my beloved Spelman College the Atlanta University Center Muslim Student Association put on a presentation and Fashion Show curated by Zarinah El-Amin Naeem. It was an event based on the Beautifully Wrapped calendar. It was a modest fashion show that show cased the beauty of the ethnic head dress.

  Purchasable at www.Niyah.net
Most of the models recieved Henna tattoos on our hands since it was the most exposed parts of our bodies.
Some of the looks were for casual day to day wear while others were more dressy options. For instance the Dress in the upper left was made to wear at a wedding.

This was my dressy outfit. That all the models wanted to take home with them.
This is my head wrap for the promotional video of the Show (which I was the majority feature of lol).
Check it out

My first outfit before heading out onto the runway.
These are some of the pieces from the more extravagant line featured in the show. The pink against the black was a very vibrant color. It stood out so beautifully without being loud. These outfits were compliments of each other in the line. They looked great on the runway together side by side.
I had so much fun with each model in this show. I made a lot of friends and connections from the time we spent together. It was a great experience and I'm so glad that I was a part of it. It gets me excited to be in other shows this year and the years to come.!

Homecoming week my Best friend Erica came up with this idea.....I LOVED IT.

Styled by yours truly. Erica is wearing my DIY studded high wasited shorts, studded boots and Bracelet and #SpelHouse Beanie. (and hoop earrings)

Every time some one saw our arms they asked "what's that?" and we educated them about my page. It's a Genius Eye Catching advertising strategy:)

Style Guru

Oct. 11th, 2012 I had a table at our Homecoming at a Glance fashion event about how to shop and be fashionable on a college budget. This event was from 6-9pm in the Spelman suites. There were other vendors, hair styling stations set up, and refreshments. I thoroughly enjoyed the event. I handed out sheets of places to shop in Atlanta on a college budget and my business cards. Students that came by came up with the idea of having a thrift shopping excursion which is currently being planned. Stay tuned for Info so you can come along with Under Houston's Spel:)

Homecoming at my school is a spectacle to say the least!!! It brings out people's best outfits (and/or new outfits) to each event. It was my first time experiencing homecoming at my beloved Spelman College so I was a little distracted from my initial task of getting pictures for you guys of all the amazing outfits I saw. :( I apologize and am letting you know I will do much better in the future. I still don't have a profession camera so that's really something I'm working on to make the site look more professional. Stay with me guys!!:) This is the beginning and it can only go up from here...
