Clark Atlanta University Homecoming Fashion Show 2013

The Clark Atlanta Homecoming Fashion Show on October 22nd, 2013 entitled Mt. Olympus took place in the CAU gym.  This theme was inspired from the Greek mythology.

The fashion show consisted of seven scenes captioned with god and goddess names. The flowing trains, white gowns, and royal headdress and hairstyles were very cohesive with the show’s theme.

The beautiful finale piece of the show was announced as an auction piece on CAU designer Stephanie Gordelle’s website A portion of the proceeds were contributed to a breast cancer foundation.
 Master Piece.

During the middle of the show there was a musical performance by artist Natasha Mosely. She wore a black and white striped (jersey mesh and leather) dress paired with knee-high black boots.

After the performance was the anticipated “walk off”- sponsored by Uppity Negro clothing line. The hosts invited about 20 male and female participants on stage to strut their stuff. The crowd decided by applause that two models were the strongest, and they “walked to the death” to break the tie. The winners received clothing from the sponsor as well as bragging rights for the rest of the year.

These two fierce young ladies tied at the end (and rightfully so).

The show continued on with a menswear focused section.

 Bandana print pants

The show included a wide variety of different prints, looks, and materials. The overarching trends throughout were: black and white color combination, fringes, metallic material, body chains, zebra print, denim, color blocked panels, mesh, and silk garments.

It was a great show! The behind the scene members worked long and hard on Mt. Olympus. The blood, sweat, and tears that put forth paid off!

It has created great anticipation for Clark Atlanta University Fashion department's fashion show in the Spring.

I can't wait!!!
